Biography
Deputy Chief Charles Sherwood is a lifelong resident of the Town of Orange and has over fifty years of service as an Active Member of the OVFA. He served as Chief from 2004-2008.
Deputy Chief Sherwood has held a variety of administrative positions, including training officer, parliamentarian, officer-in-charge of the Finance Committee and legal liaison. He holds State of Connecticut Certifications as Fire Officer 1, Firefighter 1, Hazardous Materials Operations and FEMA Emergency Management Certifications IS 700, IS 100 and IS 200.
The deputy chief’s professional background has been in public safety and law enforcement, focusing on organization development and human capital management. He holds a doctorate in management systems and his research interests include selection and development of personnel, higher education, job satisfaction and job design.
