Biography
Lieutenant Dan Abrams joined the Orange Volunteer Fire Association in October of 2012. He became a lieutenant in March of 2016 and has served as the department Training Officer since March 2018.
Lt. Abrams was the head of personnel from 2014-2016 and is currently the officer overseeing that committee. He served on the apparatus purchase committee, developing the specifications and purchasing of two of the department’s current apparatus, Engine 34 and Quint 32. Over his tenure with the department he has served on several other committees.
Lt. Abrams has a Master’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts. He is certified by the State of Connecticut as an EMT, Firefighter II, Fire Service Officer I, Fire Service Instructor I and OSHA HazMat Technician. Lt. Abrams has served as a member of the Derby Fire Department and Storm Ambulance and Rescue Corps since 1997 and is the current head of finance for the Ambulance Corps.
Lt. Abrams was introduced to the fire service as a boy, attending fires with past members of the department. Born and raised in Orange, he currently resides in town with his wife and two children. He has a background in construction project management and is currently an Associate Director of Project Engineering at Pratt & Whitney, where he has worked for 15 years.
